Eustalomyia vittipes (enigste met gele poten bij mannetje en vrouwtje)

Estalomyia hilaris (arista lang behaard en middenstreep op de thorax loopt uit in een ronde spot bij mannetje en vrouwtje)

Estalomyia histrio (achterscheen met 12 anterior ventral haren bij mannetje en vrouwtje)

There are 3 species known from the Netherlands

Eustalomyia vittipes (the only one with yellow legs in male and female)

Estalomyia hilaris (arista long haired and mid vitta of scutum widened behind into a rounded spot in male and female)

Estalomyia histrio (hindtibia with 12 anterior ventral setae in male and female)

Het geslacht Eustalomyia staat erom bekend dat ze parasiteren in nesten van grondwespen. 

 Van PETR BÍLEK  (Czech.rep; Cytophysiologist) kreeg ik deze prachtige foto serie  opgestuurd, waar we dit gedrag kunnen aanschouwen.

In deze serie zien we dat de Eustalomyia hilaris wacht tot de wesp (in dit geval een wespensoort uit het geslacht Crossocerus) zijn buit (cicade) naar het nest heeft overgebracht, om vervolgens haar eieren af te zetten bij of in het nest, zodat de larven verder zelfstandig naar de voedselbron kunnen kruipen en zich daar dan tegoed kunnen doen aan het verdoofde insect .(kleptoparasiet)

Species of the genus Eustalomyia are parasites in nests of wasps.

 From PETR BÍLEK (Czech.rep; Cytophysiologist) i got these wonderful serie of photos showing this behaviour. 

We can see the female of Eustalomyia hilaris waiting for the wasp(in this case a wasps of the genus Crossocerus) being ready to bury her catch (cicada). Next the female E.hilaris drops her eggs near or in the wasp nest, so the larvae can feed on the food strore of the paralysed insect (kleptoparasites)
