Larven fytofaag en , met uitzondering van Cylindrotoma, op terrestrische, semi-aquatische tot aquatische mossen. Cylindrotoma larven als vlinderrupsen vrijlevend op allerlei kruidachtige planten in vochtige bosrijke gebieden. Adulten vooral in moerasachtige gebieden en vochtige bossen.

Larvae phytophagous and, Cylindrotoma excepted, living on terrestrial, semi-aquatic and aquatic mosses. The larvae of Cylindrotoma living on various herbs in moist woodland.
